Hi! Im a 25 years old female . And never had a boyfriend. I am super shy because I was bullied at high school because of my appearance. Now I think I look good but my self confidence is never came back. So when sometimes a guy shows interest to me I run away from him. Even if I like him. I think I got used to being alone and I think nobody can like me . I dont know why I think like that . I think its nonsense but I do this all the time .There is a guy that we became friends with a little help of any other friend of mine .And she said he has feelings for me but he didnt see a sign from me so he cannot tell his feelings to me . I really like him too but I said that no we are just friends 🤦🏻‍♀️Because of this Ill be alone always. Is there anyone feels like this or do you have any recommendations for me ?

@Mairwen I feel this way cause i don't want to get hurt again. Just know that you deserve love and that because of what happened to us like the bullying we feel weird or we feel like we don't deserve to succeed or be happy. Just know that its your inner criticism and that people like you and think youre awesome. I also am scared to love or get close to someone cause i just feel like theyll find me out eventually or that i wont think im good enough or i wont know how to act or do this/that. Its pretty tough when you were bullied for your appearance as i was also so i can empathize. For me, i just want to take it slow and think it over and see who this person really is.

@ojstory I don't know if that helped or not but you are an amazing person for being so strong. Dont listen to that mean voice in your head.

I don't know whether counselling might be a possibility for you. It seems to me that lack of self confidence getting in the way of relationships is the kind of thing a counsellor can usually help with. Some counsellors work with couples, too.

@Mairwen I am a guy and I am suffering from this as well. I think good in-person therapy can be a good way to go about this. You might wanna discuss about how you got bullied and revisit all the painful memories from childhood and the emotions associated with them that began this shyness and fear from relationships in the first place. I know it's easier said than done, but healing it from the root is in my opinion the best way to go.
