Back to my exe's friend.... HEELP!!

I know that I need to stop this I just want someone to give me some advices. 😩

So this is my exe's friend. We kept talking a lot right after breaking up with my ex. We texted and called everyday and we had a really great connexion.

One day he asked me out to talk about me and him and he told me that he wanted to be in a relationship with me, and how he really wanted to develop feelings but he only needed to deal with his ex girlfriend cause they were back talking again and he told me not to worry about it and he will make sure I feel emotionally safe with him bla bla bla..... So I was a little bit hesitated in the beginning but I agreed. Until, 2 days later, he told me that his ex girl wants him back and exclusive, and he was confused and didn't know what to do. That was so disappointing, cause he was stringing me along with him when he knew exactly what he wanted. Yes he got back to her and we stopped talking for a month and a half.

But now we're back talking , he broke up again with his ex. I met him , we kissed and all, but he's still distant with me. He still didn't text me or call me. I know that this is wrong and I want to stop all this I just really want some advices to get my head straight.
