Confused and need advice.
So my partner and I (me:21) my partner 22. We met online almost 2 years ago. We have been doing long distance for a while. We care for each other so much and love every second we have to text or call each other. But as we are turning into adults, staying in contact has been getting harder and harder. He has his family and I have mine. The both of us don’t want to move away from our families and are extremely family oriented. But that leaves us to the point on who’s going to move with who. I want to go back to school and there’s a program in his state that will give me that opportunity. If I do move to his state I would not want to move in with him. I want to be my own person. I really really care, admire and respect my partner. It’s really hard cause if we split I feel like I’m missing the opportunity for something great. Something and someone who can grow with me. I’m so confused. Stay in my state and go to school. Or take a risk and move down there. I would have to find roommates and live all by myself which is honestly kinda sad for me. I don’t know what to do I’m so lost. I want this person in my life so bad.
@fmgarden I feel for you, as this is a difficult decision. Have you both spent time together, perhaps on vacation or such? Would be good to know that you are as compatible when spending an extended time together. Wishing to remain close to family is wonderful in principle, but your primary relationship, marriage and your own family perhaps one day, will eventually take priority. Changing jobs, promotions, or higher education could always result in moving away from your parents and siblings, as they may also well very well do. Going to a college program that you are interested in pursuing, even if this relationship does not work out, you may find the experience of living in a new state a beneficial one. And in a worst-case scenario, you can always move back to where you currently live, no harm done. Just my thoughts!
Hey, I was really worried about the relationship I've been having with my new GF since we met online, and reading this post makes me reassured about the whole situation. Thank you so much!! Hopefully the trip I have in mind comes into fruition and that we can hopefully connect closer.
@impartialCircle7581 I too have been in a long-distance relationship. There can definitely be some challenges, but with two willing partners and flexibility, it can work out. I wish you both all the best!
