Hi i’ve been having crush with this guy for 3 years. He ticked all the list and seems perfect to me. We meet every week and the more i see him the more i like him. He is very nice and sweet, but is very popular among girls. It’s hard to reach him as he’a always surrounded by girls. I recently found that he just think of me as a friend. I want to move on and get over him but i cant. I joined other societies but i keep comparing other guys with him, i havent got attracted to other guys. If i avoid him, most likely i’ll lose my friends as we are in the same circle of friends. What should i do?

@Leunca

Don't ignore the issue and talk to someone you trust. A trusted friend or family member can offer their take on the issue. Be honest with yourself. You need to face the facts of why you have a crush. Limit the amount of time you spend with your crush; as well as avoiding social media. Not doing this will cause you to continue in having these feelings.

Don't be hard on yourself or get jealous. These are counterproductive to achieving resolution of your perception of your crush. Give it some time and stay busy. Practicing these techniques will help you in resolution of your feelings for the crush.

Finally, stay busy and keep a journal. F

inding other things to do will take your concentration away from the crush and put it on something you enjoy doing. Journaling will help you see why you feel the way you do about your crush. Wait a few days and go back and read what you have written. You might just be surprised at what you have to say to yourself.

I hope I have helped you find a way to deal with this issue.

Hi! I’ve been through a similar experience where I thought someone liked me so I got interested but in the end it turned out to be a joke and he didn’t feel the same way. It can be frustrating isn’t it? We tend to ask ourselves why can’t we be more? We have all those imaginations of what could be if we actually dated right?

It was very brave of you to clarify your standing with this person, and they gave you an answer so I think the thing that will get you through this should be your respect to him. Respect their feelings and slowly move on, no matter how hard. Acknowledge that you felt something for this person, that you could have been more, but also acknowledge that that already cannot materialize because of their feelings towards you.

Slowly replace your romantic expectations of him with friendly expectations, how would the two of you behave as friends? Can you talk about common hobbies or interest while maintaining friendly distance? When you start feeling romantic things towards his actions, don’t reject his personality/being, acknowledge that he has that ideal characteristics you like, but in the same time, think why you both cannot be. Think how you should react as a friend. Think that you like him as a friend, as a good human being.

Of course, moving on takes time, just like breakups. So take it one step at a time.

Wishing you luck and healing!

Thank you for your advice mylkcha 💛 it’s good to hear from someone who experienced the same thing as me. We’re kinda awkward with each other but hopefully we’ll get used to it

I’m glad to help as well 💖 It’s normal to be awkward especially after a conversation like that, it’s embarrassing and makes you vulnerable after all. Give it some time, acting as friends do and surely you’ll get there. Wishing you all the best!
