Hi! We've been together for 2 years and just recently that I found out that in our first year, he was moving on from his past relationship. I was single for almost a decade before meeting him because I want to work on myself first and be so sure with what I want. I dont know what to feel. He said he already moved on but the thought that it's because of me and that he lied, is not okay..

I feel you. I have been in his place entering a relationship and it’s definitely like you’re having to deal with the dust still settling from the past while also pursuing something new. He most likely hid it for fear you would be apprehensive about being with him. While I’ve made the same decision as he did (acting like I’m more far removed from a past relationship than I actually was), it’s not right and in hindsight I regret not taking time to focus on myself.

also my partner while not lying about anything he didn’t exactly make it clear that after his breakup 9 months before our relationship beginning that he was not taking time for himself like he made it seem but had been continuing to date around and get disappointed, which I think led to him only building onto his insecurities instead of taking the time to heal him. I share this because I think that may be the main potential consequence of him moving on fast. I’m sure he cares about you genuinely and did this for fear of losing you. But it can potentially mean he isn’t as maybe healed from the trauma of his past relationship.
