I don’t know what to feel
I have a best friend who works at my job with me. I am 24 and he is going to be 18 in 4 months. He told me last week that he had a crush on me. I feel extremely weird about it and I told him I feel that way. He said he’s patient and wants to make me happy. He and I know a lot about each other, and because of that, he’s been doing things I love and he’s just been incredible. If he was older, he would be a fantastic boyfriend, but because he is so young, I feel terribly awkward about it. I don’t know how to feel or what to do or say. Advice?

Hi Amanda! I hope you are doing well! I definitely see that you are in a tough situation! Being that is he isn't 18 yet, I would at least wait until he's no longer a minor and then maybe reconsider the situation. I know there's a big gap between you two, but once he's 18, you'll both be consenting adults and things will become a little easier! :) I think it's great that you both are already best friends and have each other in that regard. I hope things are going well because it's been a little while since you've posted this! Have a good night!

That is a hard topic to answer and you could probably get lots and lots of opinions on it, based on people's individual experiences. Prior to that person turning 18 it makes sense to remain friends. None of us are in your shoes but you state that you feel both extremely weird and awkward, so those are signals to pay attention to and reflect upon as you think this through. Remaining friends for a longer term may test his patience. This is a decision you may want to consider after he's enjoyed being 18 for a while. Time usually helps sort these kinds of things out.
