I feel like my relationship is doomed

Hey everyone! This is my first post here and it’s the main reason I’m on this site. I’ve been in a fantastic relationship for a long time now, years. We truly love each other, we understand each other, and I’d never want to do anything to hurt my partner. I can’t imagine life without them.

The problem is that we simply cannot agree on whether or not we want kids soon. My partner is dead-set on us settling down and having a family in the next year or two. I just can’t fathom doing that. I’m not ready for it. I feel to irresponsible and young, and there’s so much I want to do with my life before I ever consider shouldering the weight of having kids.

We’ve talked about it but always seems to come to a standstill. It’s like we both know the conversation won’t end in us being together. Like we know we aren’t really compatible but it’s too painful to confront that reality.

How should we approach this? What advice do you have if it does end up tearing us apart? Thank all you for your time.

That's so difficult to navigate.

But ultimately as hard as it is, you cannot do something you will end up resenting someone for.

If you both cannot compromise on a future time to have kids, then love in this case might not be enough as sad as they is to confront.

Wishing you the both the best as you navigate through this 💚
