I have a crush on my roommate.

This is tough because we're both adults, in our 30s.

We're friends and we're casual friends before moving in together at the beginning of covid when we both faced some changes.

At the time I was in a long term relationship, but that ended a little over a year ago.

He is very attractive, we share some hobbies and interests, similar tragic backstories (lots of death around us fairly early on) and support each other well.

But I am afraid to risk that and housing in this city is extremely hard to find and expensive.

@Nessa84 You have the right idea, I think, "don't shit where you eat," as they say! Maybe you could pursue this once you're both living at different places?

It sounds like you all know each other well so it’s not like you’ll be uncovering mysteries about each other and have a shock factor. That said you don’t know each other as partners. But you do as roommates so you probably have a good idea of living habits and know you two function well together in that regard.

may be safe to wait until you aren’t living together and also evaluate if it’s just a crush or you think it could turn into something serious. if you think it’s just a crush you could start off really slowly and agree to each other to not go farther if one decides it’s not smart or not feeling it

I would not date the same person I was roommates with because if things go south where will you go? That's a problem.

That's my concern. But I am the one on the lease, so it's more of a concern about putting him in a tough spot and/ having to find a new roomie.
