Moving On

Hi,

I am finding myself struggling with being very hung up on a guy I was talking to back in November. I felt a very strong connection to him and developed a strong crush/feelings for him of some kind. He was going through a lot though including grieving the loss of some family members and finally told me he did not feel ready to date right now but would be interested in reconnecting in the future. The way he left it open to reconnecting in the future has really left me struggling to move on, and I find myself still having really strong feelings for him and thinking about him a lot, even though several months have passed. I actually texted him asking if he wants to connect as friends, but never heard from him.

I started talking to some new people and hope to plan some first dates soon. The pandemic and a lot of work and school deadlines have made me put off meeting new people in person. I am hoping to try to take some steps around that next week despite feeling overwhelmed with my schoolwork. I know that making new friends and starting to connect with new romantic interests is what I need to do, and I am doing that, but I still find myself feeling hung up on this guy and holding on to some longing/hope that he will contact me to connect even though I know at this point he maybe wasn't that interested.

Day

hey!

it seems like you're still hoping that he will text you/ask you out on a date or something similar. while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's possible that he still doesn't feel ready. it's good that you're still trying to put yourself out there. just remember, that what's meant for you, will never pass you by. so if you and him are good for each other, you will be with each other when the time is right. but if not, better things are on the way :)

It takes time to move on, but likely only after you admit the truth to yourself and accept the fact that he has no intentions of that future time where you connect again. It doesn't matter what the reasons were. At this point, you already know what you must do, but perhaps the only TRUE worry is that you may not be able to find someone that you connect with as well as you did with him. Well, that is utter BS that you've convinced yourself.

The fact is? You're probably an amazing person, and for whatever reasons he failed to realize that about you. That's his loss, not yours. There are many people out there that are looking for someone like yourself. This is true especially after we've all been quarantined in our apartments and houses. You will later find that there are many possibilities to love. This will only come to a realization when you meet someone fantastic, that makes this guy look like a chump.

Go out, and find someone that you connect with on several levels and don't settle. Find a man that completes you, teaches you new things about life, about yourself, and is able and willing to connect with you in the ways you wish that the other guy had. Eventually? He will become a far distant memory. You'll realize that he just wasn't worth the effort or thought.

Good Luck!
