My ex
At the beginning of 2020, I met a guy and we hit it of instantly. We formed a connection that I’d never experienced before and we started dating. I really thought he was my person. But then for personal reasons my mental state started deteriorating and even though he wanted to be there for me, I felt that I’d negatively affect his joy and mental state if I continued to be with him. He was someone who I knew would put my feelings before himself and I didn’t want to give him that burden.... so I broke up with him. Now it’s two years later and he’s reached out to me a handful of times to see how I was and ask to be friends. He’s in another relationship now and has told me many times that he’s conflicted because He can’t stop thinking about me but he loves her a lot. Recently he reached out again and kept asking me to meet up with him. I said no at first because I feel bad for his girlfriend who, he has told me, isn’t comfortable with us speaking(and I totally understand that). But I eventually gave in and saw him the other day. My feelings for him haven’t changed and i can really picture forever with him. When we saw each other it felt right. Like we fit together. We texted after and I confided in him that this was really hurting me because I didn’t like picturing him with someone else. He told me while we were in person together that he wanted to give us another shot but was scared I would leave him again. He said he needed time to think stuff over. So we aren’t going to be talking for a while. He then asked if I was interested in doing a three-way relationship with him and his girlfriend which I got very upset but and said no to because I’m just not into that. It hurt my Feelings that he even asked. Now he’s on a trip with her to visit her dad in Florida and I can’t help but feel like I’m “the other woman”. I don’t know what to do. I wanted your advice if you had any. He makes it seem like he wants to be with me but he’s scared of me leaving him again, yet I know he loves his current girlfriend.

That sounds like a really upsetting story with you having to break up because of bad mental health, and reigniting the spark and wanting to be with him again, only to see he loves his gf and asking you to be with him too. I understand your discomfort and it sounds really upsetting when he wants to be with you and his current gf, which is upsetting for sure. I hope talking to him about things and how to continue the friendship/relationship helps, but idk. I am sorry to hear you had to go through all that, and I'm proud of you for reaching out. We're all here for you and hopefully things will be okie soon.
