On a Break

I have been dating a man who’s had a positive impact on my life for almost 2 years now. Except, 2 weeks ago he suggested we go on a break. It was very emotional for the both of us and we both miss each other lots. The reasoning for this break was so I could become more independent (I have co-dependency issues from past traumas) and he could learn to communicate better & grow to be more kind and appreciative. He made it very clear that he wants to be with me and this break is purely out of love because he wants us to be healthy as possible. Another issue I have is with my self confidence because I’m not his type, as he’s very into blondes and I’m a brunette. It makes me feel like I’ll never be enough for him, like I’ll never be that “dream woman”. I am a person who loves very hard and wears my heart on my sleeve so it’s been a horrible month for me.

I am seriously struggling.

Going from lots of contact to none at all has been extremely hard. Especially due to my co-dependence and attachment anxieties. I have been doing decent but mentally, I am falling apart. I have only been distracting myself, not actually coping and working through it. Please, please help.

@ealysabeth

That sounds hard for you. How are you doing now? Have you found yourself other support systems? That is a good thing to have in any relationship, so you able to cope with being apart during the times it happens as a normal part of life. It can take a lot of practise when we have attachment anxieties.

Do you agree the break is a good idea and something you are happy with? Are you still struggling? Separations can be so painful and feel like complete abandonment, I can understand distracting yourself from that pain. 💛

" You're not his type" If you meet the right person *type goes out the window. Of the 2 people I've ever felt really strongly about neither was my type. If someone truly cares for you for the right reasons type won't matter. If they show affection because of how someone looks or a facade, noone will ever really be their type because they don't know what they want.
