My boyfriend of almost 2 years seems like a different person than when we started dating. Lately he picks on everything I do saying it’s stupid or wrong. And that I don’t do anything for our relationship or our home together. ( I do all the laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping). Every time I do something “wrong” he believes it’s because I’m not really an adult. When I try and explain my side he refuses to listen and tells me what I have to say is dumb or I’m doing it on purpose. Part of me knows that I should walk away but part of me can’t. I love him and want to be with him. I’m afraid I’ll be alone for the rest of my life if I leave. My support system is limited and I have limited friends. I would be losing a huge part of my life if we break up. (Having to move out, etc.) I just don’t know what to do or think anymore.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Really.

First off, you are not wrong for feeling the way you do. You have every right to have your opinions heard by your boyfriend. The whole point of being in a relationship is to support one another. Of course, every relationship gets tested and it's not always easy, but if you are at the point where you are feeling trapped and miserable, and you just can't get your boyfriend to understand how you feel, then I believe you should be thinking really, really hard about whether or not you truly think it's worth sticking around.

Just from the way it sounds based off what you've written, it definitely sounds like you are being mentally abused by your boyfriend. He may not be aware that he's doing this to you, but it doesn't matter. Being treated in the way you've described is not okay.

Why do you feel like you'll be alone forever if you were to leave?
