Struggling

My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year now. About 3 months-ish in we had a bit of an issue with a friend of mine, he asked me to stop being friends with them and I agreed. Some stuff happened during a day-long period where he needed time to process which is completely fine. This lead to him thinking about breaking up with me and caused some bad thoughts for me and I did something I shouldn’t have.

Recently, he expressed that he is scared to break up with me because he’s scared of what will happen with me. I told him I’d talk to my therapist about what I can do to help make our situation better for the both of us as I’m not super mentally stable and definitely put more of my issues on him than I should’ve. But now I’m at a bit of a hard spot where I don’t know what I should and shouldn’t share with him in order to help keep him from taking on too many unnecessary issues that just stress him out. I also don’t even fully know if he really wants to stay with me, he said that he does and that both him wanting to stay and being scared to leave can be true at the same time and I admit that’s a little hard for me to understand, I didn’t express that to him though. So now I’m just feeling kind of lonely and isolated because I’m kind of just taking every issue, no matter the size, head-on and alone (I talk to my therapist when I can and don’t have a ton of friends, not at all because of my boyfriend I just don’t tend to put myself out there to make more friends). I want to be able to fix myself for this relationship but it’s also terrifying to think that as soon as I do that he’ll leave.

He didn't have the right to tell you to stop talking to someone.

He can't dictate who your friends are.

Yes, you are struggling and it's hard for a partner to change it for us, we have yo do that for ourselves, but ultimately relationships are about communication and support and wanting the best for us, not constant guilt tripping or making you feel like he'll leave.

You are coming here seeking help.

And going to therapy.

You are stronger than you think

You are a good person and you deserve to be happy and your relationship needs to uplift and encourage you 💚🤗

sounds like you want to work on yourself and that is good for you. any changes you make should be For YOU.... not another person or a relationship etc.

the change that lasts are when we do for ourselves not others.
