Taking a break?
My boyfriend and I have the same arguments all the time. He’s suggested going on breaks in the past, I never fully agreed. It made me sad to do that, to not be with him. But we live together, so these breaks were just us trying to be friends that live together. To be honest, it always went fine and we’d slowly end up back together. This happened like 3 times in the 3 years we’ve been together.
Recently we got into an argument and I did a lot of thinking, feeling like I might not be able to stay anymore. But I don’t want to leave. He’s good to me, he’s my best friend, we have so much history. The bad times are only when we have disagreements. It’s like he can’t be told he’s wrong. And that makes things hard. So I suggested we take a break but a real break, I’ll go stay with my sister and he can live in our apartment. We’re going to reconvene after 1 week, and then decide if the break should continue.
I’ve always been really opposed to breaks in a relationship. But I’m starting to feel like it might be a helpful step. Is it?
He thinks this is a step towards breaking up, but I think of it as a step towards trying to fix this. Neither of us want to break up. It’s just all so confusing and difficult right now.

Honestly you both could be on to something ......
while a break can show someone that they really miss their partner and life is better etc.....
for some it may be different .... and time apart is relaxing and calm..... and the can i move on thoughts come.... in any relationship there will be arguments and disagreements comes with the territory if this is first time to have actual space not just being roommates .... he may feel it is an escalation to a real break up.
The break sounds good. Have you considered couples therapy?
