Cut off without a reason

I'm a sophomore in high school. I've had a friend, my best friend actually, since the eighth grade. He has been amazing to me. We've done a lot of things together and made great memories that I'll always cherish. My father doesn't allow me to hang around guys, at all, but I tell most of my family anyways about him. He's very funny, and relaxed and sassy- but in a good way. He was my only true friend.

Tonight, he messaged me. Recently, his phone broke so we hadn't spoken to each other much besides on Facebook where he could reach through his laptop sometimes. He writes that we haven't seen each other in a while, which is true. I didn't leave my room the entire summer. But that's another story. I didn't tell him what I was going through because I don't like bothering others with my problems. Ironic considering I'm posting about them.

He tells me that we're beginning to drift apart to which I deny. We've been friends for a while and we went months without speaking to each other at one point, but we were still as close. Then, he tells me that he hopes I have a good school year. And that I meet new friends. I try to explain that we aren't drifting apart but he won't listen. He says that he doesn't care, that he's done listening, and goodbye. I asked him if he's gonna stop speaking to me and he says for now. I'm so frustrated and so sad. I feel like he's only talking to me when it's convenient for him. I cried, really hard after. I don't know what to do honestly.

@pastelamy Hi friend, I appreicate you being willing to open up and talking about a difficult topic. I hope that everything works out for you and your friend since it seems like the two of you are incredibly close. Based on what you said, it seems like he is automatically making assumptions that the two of you are "drifting apart" even though just because you haven't been able to chat very much doesn't mean that the two of you are drifting apart, like he currently thinks. What do you think might be causing him to think this way? If you would prefer to chat more privately feel free to send me a personal message and I will respond as promptly as I possibly can. :) If not, then I am also more than willing to continue to chat via this forum post. :)

That must be very hard for you. It seems your friend is misunderstanding your situation. I know you are very hurt by what he did, but he likely has a readon fr it. I think you should ask to talk to him privately sometime to resolve this, you need o communciate your feelings and reason to each other so you can understadn each other better. He seems like a very good friend and likely won't do something to hurt you on purpose. Hoping the best for you. :)

@pastelamy It sounds like you and your friend are experiencing a miscommunication. If you two are very close, than maybe you could explain to him what is going on so that he can be there for you. Even if you don't want to tell him the full story, and you just told him a little, that could show him that you aren't drifting from him and that you are just dealing with something right now and it is making it harder for you to see him as often as you would normally. It's completely up to you and what you are comfortable with though. I hope things with you and your friend get better and I wish you the best of luck. Best wishes.

Hi. It can be really hard opening up and asking other people for help. Sometimes I encourage people to think about times they have helped others, it feels good to help, we are programed to do life together. When we refuse to ask for help we are robbing others of the opportunity to help, which makes them feel good. That is why we have so many people in the helping professions, they have a genuine desire to help. It sounds like you have lost a good friend, and that can really hurt our hearts, to lose someone we care for. I believe when we experience a loss that time will heal our wounds and broken hearts. Talking to others who understand can be helpful as well, so i am glad you are on here sharing. I hope you continue to share with others and I am sure life will bring you many more friends that are willing to walk through life with you.
