I
They dont notice how theyre actions hurt me. They dont try to show interest in the things I like even though I do that for them. Sometimes I say things and they dont appear to notice. They think its okay to hurt others who have hurt them. I know theyre depressed, but I am too. They hurt themselves and dont notice how badly it affects me. I listen to their problems, but they dont pay much attention to mine.
One of my friends isnt that great of a person. She kinda acts like one of those stereotypical mean girls in movies. Once I didnt agree with her on something and later I found out shed been talking shit about me. It was over a boy shed known for like two weeks and at that point wed been friends for eight years.
I want to leave them but I cant. I worry about what theyd do to themselves. I know they care about me, but they dont think about the consequences of their actions, I know were young, but I still wish theyd be more careful. Am I just being selfish and over dramatic?
@Livv1616
First of all, thanks for writing and sounds like you are having a hard time with those friends.
I guess some poisonous people could be disgusted in friends although I notice that you understand where they are coming from and care about how they feel.
Would you rather have an enemy who admits they hate you rather than a friend who secretly puts you down?
I hope that we get to talk a bit about things.
@Livv1616 have you tried telling them directly how you feel or bringing up the scenario that upset you
@Livv1616 she probably won't do anything to you if you leave but maybe state your concerns to a guardian or something. I really doubt she would do something over you leaving a friendship. Maybe a mass exodus along with prolonged reminders of why you're leaving lol, but you wouldn't do that. And you're just one friend. Whatever you do, don't try to force her to leave. As the one who wants to go it's your responsibility to do that.
@Livv1616 of course she wouldn't do anything to you lol i meant she probably won't do anything to herself if you leave
@Livv1616 if she doesn't listen to you, maybe you could try to give them some space, you know? You are young, these issues are pretty normal for friendships and other relationships. I'm not trying to invalidate your experience, but it depends -- do you really care about them and see it being repaired someday, if some of those issues got worked out? Try some space, maybe that'll change things. Sometimes, I think, comments from people we've known for a long time can hurt more because someone you trusts confirms an inner fear -- your feeling of betrayal over her talking shit about you is deff real, but I would bring it up to her, because the reason is usually something like what's occurring above. That doesn't make it okay, but maybe you can work it out if you care, and if you can't then you know. Also, maybe look at the big picture. What was the comment you made to her that you two didn't agree on? Maybe there's more to it from her side. Either way it all really depends if any part of you wants to continue the friendship. It's not okay to hurt people who have hurt you but sometimes that can become a continuous cycle among people that needs to be broken by somebody.
