I caught feelings for a friend and really wish I didn't
I'm a bi guy and I don't broadcast it hugely, when people ask I am honest but otherwise dont really make it a facet of my identity (call that closeted if you want, but whatever). I made a very good friend, and hes truly a great person. In both m and le and female friends I love emotional closeness. Unfortunately I tend to fall for my friends probably for this exact reason.
He is very straight, and so it's not really worth trying to get anything other than a friendship out of this, and honestly I'm okay with that, because even our friendship is very special to me. So i guess I am frustrated i have these feelings, I want to return to not having a crush, and just having a great friend. I don't know if that's possible, but its tearing me up tbh. I guess any advice is nice.
I dont want anything more than our check m current friendship, its just the random thoughts and stuff I guess.
@powerfulKitten5097 then just be friends with him then it won't be so complicated crushes from my experience don't always work out i dated my crush for 9 and a half months and we broke up in may of this past spring friends are forever relationships now in days aren't genuine.
Have you tried praying about it? But you need to accept him into your heart first. Call out to him, he is a real help in time of trouble.@powerfulKitten5097

I think you and I would commiserate quite nicely on unrequited crushes for straight friends. The frustration of knowing you care deeply for someone who also cares for you- just not in that way. The hopelessness of desperately wanting to be around him and being certain he doesn't feel the same for you. Choosing to sacrifice even the possibility of happy future with him for the more rational, more likely, and more painful possibility that you will never be with him. And the gravy on top: never being able to reveal your feelings to him because you're afraid of losing him as a friend. Maybe your situation is different but if any of this sounds familiar it's because I'm wondering the same thing you are. How exactly does one stop having romantic feelings for a straight friend when you somehow just know things would be so sweet if he felt the same way about you?
It's a new year ahead. Hope, with all your heart, that you find someone else that can actually return your feelings. The difference between real love and a crush is clear and once you've found real love, this crush will be just as quickly forgotten. In the meantime, there isn't much you can do but sit and sigh about what could have been. I try my best to not think about anything at all. Maybe you'll have better luck than I've had.
