I hope to see you again
On Friday, I ordered a rideshare service and was paired up with a male driver, while I am a female passenger. So, I accidentally opened myself up to him. As a result, he told me he didn't have any friends in the city and started talking to me about some life plans of his. We also started talking about interests. He even opened up and told me where he lives and that while his parents own homes in my city, he lives in a motel and goes to his relatives' houses for dinner because he can't cook. Meanwhile, he was upfront with me in that he didn't want to date or getting married because he said he's too old. Rather, he just wants friends. Since we got along, he told me he wanted to keep in touch as a friend.
While I thought he was otherwise a nice guy and was lonely, I just didn't really feel comfortable being that I often relate to my rideshare drivers on a more professional level. That is, I just expect them to take me from point A to Point B, while hoping to have a pleasant conversation on the way.
Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with. Trust your gut feelings in these situations. These instincts developed over many years to pick up warning signals from out environment. A rideshare driver asking to keep in touch seems somewhat inappropriate. If you had to exchange contact information at all, I’d only give an email address - that too a backup one I keep for specifically situations like these where I don’t want to give my real information. But then in that case you gotta ask yourself, why am I even bothering exchanging contact info if I’m feeling super cautious about this to the point of giving him my burner email address? Not worth it. And seems like I should be paying attention to my need for safety here more than my want for emotional closeness with others. I’d not engage further if I were you.

I talked to two other rideshare drivers the other day, who I happened to ride with and they said under no circumstances should any driver cozy up to their passengers like that. We smells red flags that this guy was trouble and he was flirting wit me. They told me to report him to the rideshare people which I did.
