Just another option I guess
So my (old?) friend group consisted of mostly guys (I'm female) and my best friend who was also female. The boys over the years have become more toxic, excluding me & my best friend (who I'll name tiffany, not her real name), calling us "cringe" if we acted like girls or "e-girls" or didn't go along with their crappy humour and jokes. Anyways, Tiffany is now friends with the 'popular' girls at school. She said she left our friend group because it was problematic and there was so much drama, which I never understood since the popular girls are WAY more problematic than our nerdy gamer friend group. School started again this week for me, she didn't return, which is fine ofc. But we haven't talked in over a month. Since very late last year (Nov-Dec?) was when she started hanging out with her new friend group, but slowly she's become so much more distant. We had a talk over a week ago and she said she was scared to talk to me because she thought I was mad at me blah blah... Haven't talked since. Please note I HAVE talked to her about this, about how I feel like she's drifting and doesn't wanna be friends anymore and I'm not important to her at least a couple of times since Nov-Dec last year. We've been friends since the start of high school and I don't want to lose her but she's treating me like another option to her if she loses her friends she has right now or gets bored of them because I literally get no contact from her anymore and I've given up trying. I'm not pretty, nor cool like the girls she hangs out with and she's changed. Her ex-boyfriend said the same, that she isn't the same girl he knew when they started dating. She doesn't think she's changed though. She's way more financially stable than me and I remember this conversation we had a bit ago. We were joking around about what we've done for each other and I said, "what about all the love and things I've helped you through and vice versa?" and she just said, "what about all the gifts and things I've bought for you?" and it hurt so much hearing that. Towards the end of last year, she'd only hang out with me and always ask for my food because she'd "forget" every single day, which doesn't make sense??
I feel like cutting her off completely and just removing her on socials because there's no point if I'm not talking to her anymore. She has better friends now and that's fine, but I wish she'd just tell me the truth and tell her that she isn't interested anymore or something. I've also wanted to cut the guys off for ages because they never ACTUALLY care, and they've never cared. I've helped them through so much but whenever I've tried talking to them if I was down they'd shut me out or never check if I'm alright. They only ever really talked to me if I was around (recess and lunch) or if they needed advice from me.
I know I sound hella selfish but I really am just sick of being treated like another option. I just want some true friends who care about me and accept me for who I am and have similar interests instead of being insulted and called cringe every 2.5 seconds.
Thank you for letting me vent here.
@levihan Sorry your going through this i think once you graduate high school you will meet new people once you go to college i would try for the mean time to join clubs in the future Good luck.
@ladybug238 Thank you but sadly we don't have clubs because Australian schools and I still have 2 years left haha
@levihan That's rough
@levihan
It is no problem that you want to vent here. I know that was a lot to get off your chest, but the best part of it is that you got it off your chest and let go of some of things that has been holding you back. Your "friendship" with all these people is no good for you. It is just like being in a relationship with a married man or single man. This man is already taken by a woman, and you are just a side piece. He will never leave the person he loves to be with you. I feel that you deserve so much better and these so called "friends" that you have does not treat you well. There are times where we get caught up being with others that we lose what our worth and values are. You deserve better and they do not deserve you by any means
@levihan
cut them out of your life. honestly I believe no one should be treated this way. Dont let people treat you like trash or walk all over you. I could already tell that you must be a brilliant and smart and beautiful girl! come on girl ! you got this! You cant start talking trash on yourself either that will make your heart all so cold.
I hope this helps you.
bless your heart lovely!
@happychan2006 Aww thank you so much for the advice, you're so sweet, bless you too!
@levihan
No problem, i truly wanted to offer some advice cause i understand the situation...in a way.
