Suicidal friend

So I have a friend, and she has been cutting herself with a box cutter and she's been very suicidal recently.

She thinks that I'm the only one she can talk to about this, and I don't wanna seem mean, but it's putting a lot ot pressure on me and giving me anxiety. I feel like if something happens to her, it's my fault because I was supposed to help her. And I want her to feel more loved, but she won't believe me when I say we care for her. She's says its out of pity or she's a burden.

I don't know what to do. I asked another friend and they said I shouldn't force her to talk to an adult, but it's getting that bad where I worry for her well being.

If anyone can help me figure out what to do, that would be great!!

@Ellaways It sounds like your friend is in a very unhappy situation. She's been harming herself and she's been very suicidal, and the adults she's in contact with don't seem to have noticed. If she's not an adult herself, she might not easily be able to seek professional help on her own. It has become awkward and distressing for you, because there's a conflict between your loyalty to her and your concern for her wellbeing.

It seems to me there are some unanswered questions here. If you could persuade her to talk to an adult, is there any adult who can be trusted to help? Is there a professional (a doctor or counsellor, for example) whom she can reach out to directly? Is there any other source of help, like a local teen helpline or suicide helpline? (You might be able to find one by searching the Internet.)

As you have mentioned, one option is for you to try and force her to talk to an adult. Another option might be for you yourself to talk to an adult and explain why you're concerned for your friend. And another option might be for you to talk to a local teen helpline or suicide helpline, anonymously, to get their advice.

If you like, you can discuss the whole situation confidentially with any listener here at 7 Cups. If you'd like to chat to me about it, just click on my profile picture and message me.

@RarelyCharlie thank you so much, and I am trying to persuade her. She told me that she hides it from her dad, when her dad asked if she was okay because she was acting in a slump. And as for doctors or a therapist, she doesn't have a therapist, that is why she goes to me. I will probably go to and anonymous suicidal hotline and ask what's the best way to handle this.

Once again, thank you!
