What do you consider a friend to be?
It's hard for me to call someone a friend, because I spent 17 years of my life being laughed about and 3 with good friends that because of my mental health became fake and talked shit about behind me and ignored me in my face. The other friends I made were all about making fun of me and putting me down after a few months or right after I called them my friends. So yeah, I have a fear of calling someone a friend, unless they do something to prove it and still... it took me oneyear and halfto consider my best friend a good friend. And we were really close for that year and so.
My question is... what do you consider a friend? Does anyone have this fear? Because I have a group of classmates I talk to really good, but I still when mentioning them I jump from "friends" to "acquaintances" a thousand times a day.
Any help or comment would be appreciated!
Have a nice Saturday and weekend!! <3
Friendship is such a complex thing that assumes different meanings and feelings for each one. If your idea of a friend is something very strict and you can only call "friends" those you really trust and feel close, then that's fine. You are the only to decide what is a friend to you.
Personally, I call all the people I talk with a certain frequency and that I like as "friend". But, as I'm not a person who gets attached easily, I see them more as people that I appreciate to talk than as people that I want to have for all my life. There are only one or two people who could get the maximum affect of me, being one of them my boyfriend and best friend now. Words are there to help us to communicate what we want, so I try to not get too strict on it. I know that a lot of people love the majority of their friends; I don't, once I don't love people easily. I like them, though. That's enough for me.
Hope I have helped. :)
