Wish I had someone to talk to on a daily basis

I know this sounds like a selfish request…. But I really can’t take unpredictability in friendships. I made another post in the depression community along the same lines. I just wish I had someone who I can actually call a best friend and be able to talk to on a daily basis. I thought I had friends but all of them like to throw in my face that they “can’t talk to me all the time” it honestly makes me feel terrible that I ever bothered them with my presence. I like having deep conversations, pretty much have a lot of free time on my hands. Only time I wouldn’t respond is when I’m at work or sleeping. I really believe I’m just destined to be alone when I secretly crave a deep connection with another person….

Hello emyelton2498 you are not alone. I would love to talk to you as much as possible. I am a college student so I do have my hands wrapped up from time to time and will give you a response when I am able to. Also as your friend I would want you to be okay with not having anyone to talk to. Also understand everyone has their lives to live some are tired and just don’t want to talk so don’t think that it’s just you!

I don’t wanna burden you though…. I’ve already done that to too many people. I would like to talk, I’m just afraid though of getting my hopes up…

I get what you are talking about. I read and see movies that show best friends and I wish I had that. Just a friend who understands and doesn't judge. I want a best friend but at the same time I have a bad habit of isolating or as I call it "hermit-crabbing" myself. I feel like I wouldn't like that in another person but I'm still struggling to fix that habit.

I feel the same way. I keep being told that "we're adults" and I'm supposed to accept that I won't hear from or see friends often. Maybe if you're married and have children that's true, but I'm single and childless. I do not have people around and I don't feel like it's fair to make someone feel like a burden because they don't want to be alone all the time.

If I can be honest, I have been having the same issue. I have been so desperately grasping at trying to save connections with friends who have othe ratings going on, but it sometimes feels like I'm being more of a burden then their actual friend. I think that being an adult should only open new doors to closer friendships right? Instead of limiting them? I wonder why we are told growing up means more isolation

I understand your feelings. I feel like I am burdening my few friends when I vent to them, but they always come to me for advice. I also have trust issues with opening up to people. Any time I have needed just to vent in the past, friends have either told mutual friends about my issues or they have gone to the person I was venting about in order to “help” me. That has always made the situation worse. So I bottle it up, deal with it myself, and just push those feelings aside because I have no one to talk to about them. My husband deals with depression and medical issues, so I vent some things to him, but I don’t want to add to his plate too much. And when my issues are with him, I can’t talk to anyone and trust that they will keep it private or won’t act differently around my husband. I know some of the things people have told me about their spouses made me look at them differently, but I think I do a good job at not showing it. I just don’t have that best friend that I can talk about anything and everything with.
