I'm getting really worried about my best friend. he texted me at 2 am breaking down saying how he is feeling more depressed and his anxiety is getting higher. I really want to help him a lot feel better. I continue to listen to him, make sure he is feeling loved and supported, I educate myself on depression and anxiety. I just feel guilty because I planned seeing a friend a week ago and I feel like I'm being selfish by seeing a friend when my best friend is feeling like this

Hey love! I completely understand this. From what you have said it seems as if you are being an amazing best friend for them. It makes sense that you would be worried about him, and im sorry that you are and he is going through this! I think that the fact that you are educating yourself, and that you are supporting and showing him love, shows him how much you care! It is understandable that you would feel guilty about hanging out with your friend. You need to remember it is totally okay for you to take time for yourself! You're already doing so much for him, it is great for you to take time for yourself. You can't always be there for others, it's super important to be there for yourself, it will even allow you to help others to the best of your ability, because it will keep you in your best state of mind!! Hopefully this could help <3
