Hi guys. I’m having some difficulty with my relationship. My boyfriend was caught flirting with someone he calls his “friend”. He called her to verify that nothing is happening between them. He agreed to cut off that friend at least until we get better. He has not cut her off but he has stopped the flirting and limited communication. I know that he’s lying about going to do work for her on her vehicle but he’s telling me i can’t control who he speaks to. He also gets very defensive. I feel uncomfortable with this situation how do I communicate that and set boundaries for myself without completely leaving the relationship over this one person?

You need to talk to him, explaining how his behaviour is making you feel. Set boundaries so he can’t just walk over you or disrespects you. If his behaviour doesn’t change, you’ll need to reconsider if he’s the one for you?

While I can appreciate your hesitance you need to trust your Partner. There is letting your bf know how you feel about things but telling him whom he can talk to will only lead to an end of relationship. talking and really communicating are 2 different things making rules and showing no trust will only make a partner defensive.  The key is making them wanting to make you safe.... not just having limits on what they can do.
