13 years and counting...... idk what I'm doing
2011 it started... we've been through things like everyone else and we have been on and off the longest we were not together was about 10 months. He called me I answered and I thought we would rebuild a new healthy relationship. Sometimes it's hard to let go of the past but I've been trying my hardest.... anyways... things this time around aren't as rocky as they used to be..
This morning he asked if I wanted to get something to eat... (had to clean up the kitchen cause we have a dog) in doing so I seen he emptied out a few dishes from the fridge and it always irritates me because he does that and just leaves them there for me to do... (he does dishes sometimes) I work Monday thru Friday home by 4pm I cook dinner every day I clean and I get tired I'd like a little break and he tells me unload the dishwasher and he will do the dishes but I don't ask him to do that I unload and load and cook. I get tired on top of working and being up at 530 everyday. He got mad at me cause I said something about him always emptying out food and just leaving it there for me to do.... than we got in the awkward ride to get food.. placed sucked by the way it was just *** food we didn't even talk while in the car or at the place. I didn't feel like I was in the wrong this morning.. he likes to reply to me by always cussing at me.. we get the food and he asks for the to go box already so in my mind I'm like great what a day it's gonna be... we get back home and he lays down for for 3 hours. He than gets up and gets all mad that I didn't do the dishes yet (it's a Friday and I had the day off) all I wanted to do was enjoy a little of my day before I got back to cleaning AGAIN! He comes out started slamming dishes around and I asked him like what's the issue and he turns to me and says " I don't sY *** when you're in here throwing stuff around and if you don't like it than you should have done the dishes" meanwhile it's only 3 o'clock. I'm glad my son wasn't here ND I let him go camping with his friend cause he didn't have to endure everything... he than goes outside throwing around the trash can and doing his laundry. Don't get me wrong the house isn't a complete *** show but he acted like I don't do this every single day. I cried because its like is it my fault? I think it's another issue but when I try and say something he always cussing at me while we try to talk and it's so unnecessary. I'm 28. We haven't argued like this in awhile ... I thought things were muvh better we were working on communicating and just being open but what the *** am I doing? I'm now sitting in my sons bathroom crying writing this....

You are not doing anything wrong to take some time and not do the dishes on his idea of when things should be done...
It is an extremely hard lesson to learn but if you approach conversations in the same way and things get ok for short periods only to revert back to same old thing....it is time to change your communication/ expectations because doing the same thing over and over is not working... he resorts to cussing you out for small things because you respond to it ........ by trying to make it all better and he puts in no effort. ......limit you response show NO reaction .... then he has no power over the situation.
Unless you want more and more years of this............... speak up set boundaries or suggest a chore chart or something that is a record of just who does what.....or suggest counseling for couples and or tell him in "i feel" statements .... "I feel you do not pull your fair share of helping with dishes / house upkeep, yet you hold unreasonable expectations and judge my efforts "
do not back down cause he starts cussing at you ... show him this tactic no longer works........he will not know how to adjust to YOUR change in dealing with things... when he is in this mood ... go for a walk or something for you and son and let him have a time out like a toddler.
I just counted my partners cussing words and told them "keep going 6 more you will get a gold star for a superb hissy fit." Once I showed i was not running around to appease them any longer they had to step up and they do not take me for granted. They do a bunch more in joint upkeep or pick up when i am tired or not up to a task on a specific day....
