Am I Crazy?
I have been working 14 hour shifts all week as I transition into a new role and wait for a replacement to cover my previous shift. After work, I rush to pick up the kids and get them to their activities and make sure everyone is taken care of until bed time. I’m exhausted and have only had maybe 4 hours of sleep this week. My husband is studying for his doctorate, which is quite obviously a major stressor. He’s had a lot of stress at work and on top of that has dealt with angry parents of the youth basketball team he coaches. I in no way think my struggles are worse than his.
On Tuesdays he has a night class at the university. Usually I pick him up. Last night I slept through my alarm and was late. I assured him this would not happen again this week and was even early. I waited 30 minutes before asking if everything was ok. Turns out he took the class online and went to the pub with a colleague. Then he promised said colleague a ride home. Am I wrong for feeling hurt that he did not consider to tell me any of this or take my sleep into account? He thinks I am acting controlling and crazy, but I really just feel hurt and alone. I’m so overtired that I can’t stop crying, which likely does not help the allegations of insanity.

No, you are not crazy.. you have communicated your understanding of his studying and work stress but does he see you need support during this work transition.
It sounds like s temporary situation, but you need rest and sleep not extra things like giving spouses friend a ride home from pub. it is hard when people have competing stress and need of support at the same or overlapping times but that does not mean one person has to do it all.
sleep deprived driving is same as impaired driving and being exhausted is a recipe for possible big mistakes and disaster. Spouses need to step up find a ride for a while or something until things settle down
