Being There

My partner has a lot of mental health conditions. He often relies on me to help him during panic attacks and etc. we are long distance, so the most that I can provide is company, if I’m lucky. But he relies on me too much. If I can’t be there for him, since we never know when our mental will have a decline, it’s like the world is ending. He often won’t talk to me or he’ll be very dry with me for hours because I wasn’t there for him. I understand that he needed me, but sometimes I’m literally not able to be there and he doesn’t seem to understand. It’s very stressful trying to be there for him when he has so many dos and donts. I feel like I’ve gotten better with being there for him the way he needs me and I’ve noticed my improvement, but he only seems to want to talk about my negative qualities. Long distance is so hard!

@jerie

Firstly, you are a good person with a big heart 💜💕 I'm sorry that your bf struggles with panic attacks and it's good that you can be there for him, but he needs to be realistic also, you cannot be there 24 7 or put his mental wellbeing being before your own. He needs to do the work himself, no other person is solely responsible for our happiness, we are. You are only human and his demands are too much, and unrealistic and I see no reason for him to listen any faujts or failings of yours. Its not ok to use issues we are struggling with to manipulate people to spending more time with us. You deserve fun, love and the same energy given back that you are putting in 💜💕
