Break up

I was told yesterday by my boyfriend he isn't in love with me and has been stringing me a long for a year and a half. I'm so angry and hurt by him and I'm disappointed in myself for ignoring the red flags. He was nice enough that it seemed like he did care and was working on things, but then he would comment about how hot other women were in front of me and I didn't want to come off as jealous. When I brought this up he brushed it off. Anytime I needed a deeper connection he would agree but then never do it. I'm upset the relationship is over but also not and I can't slow down this circular thoughts in my head of anger and hurt and self doubt. I would just love some advice on getting a little peace of mind.

Hey there, it's hurtful hearing someone you love say those things, especially when you two had a long term relationship. During a breakup a lot of things will come up such as, guilt, shame, anxiety, ruminating thoughts and anger. Those are normal feelings to experience throughout this process of grief. His behavior is quite concerning, but it can be easy to overlook the red flags when we are in love. It's important to talk about what happened, how it feels with a trusted friend, family member, therapist or people from this website. It's one of the many ways you can start to heal from the pain and hurt of this breakup.

@easyCake7747 I get you. The pain and self doubt gets to me too. I find having a space to let myself process everything with no guilt of annoying anyone (like here) has been helpful for me, keeping contact with other forms of connection, running, listening music, writing everything down, talking to someone, sleep, focus on work, meditation on free insight timer app (on self love), speaking to myself compassionately in my head, talking to people who understand s bit (like me haha), keeping a diary of my emotional fluctuations and using chatgpt to answer my thoughts. Hope you feel better soon! 💕
