Building a family -- just venting i suppose

Building a good home is nothing short of a battlefield win......

There is so many things involved.

I never thought it would be this way- perhaps i was in my idealistic bubble?

It just seemed so simple in theory. It seemed so doable as a kid. How did it become such a high mountain to climb? Family institute is breaking world over. Toxic families, divorces, people choosing not to have a family at all --- its all too common. While there is no such thing as a perfect family, at least a happy healthy home could be an aim to work upon, thought about deeply, reflected upon.... are we doing that?

---

well what all is required to build a family? Here are some things going through my mind:

Finances have to be arranged for the kids.

They have to cared for and understood and supported on their dreams

Partners have to manage their stress and not let it impact their children.

Partners have to be compatible - support each others dreams, respect boundaries, be committed and not give up easily on the institute they signed up for

Intimacy issues are nearly always there. And have to be handled delicately.

There will be hard times. Sacrifices are required.

No one will be perfect. Tolerance is required.

Everyone will make errors. Forgiveness is required.

Preventing escalation to extreme situations (violence etc) is paramount.

Spiritual purification is lifes purpose in addition to physical survival. All family members have to strive for goodness through their individual and collective efforts ...

------

Im no where close to creating a family. The family i was born in - gave me some good and some damage . The community i decided to seek support from in order to build my own family - did same- gave me some love and some damage . I probably did the same to them knowingly or unknowingly I cant assess.

And well- I guess id really like to meet someone who thinks about all these things like me ... perhaps there can be a way out to create a good family, maybe even a better community.....

Why am I saying all this?

I guess i just want to put my thoughts out in the universe. Maybe some door opens to teach me and guide me about things I don't know...

Thank you for anyone who read my thoughts .... ❤️

Even so I don't know what to say that might help you but I hope you find your answer,And Creamyyy, your words carry a significant weight and describe a reality many live silently. This feeling that building a family is nothing short of a battlefield win, and that what once seemed simple in dreams has become a towering mountain to climb, is a deeply profound and relatable emotion. Who among us hasn't wondered how things became so complicated? How did the concept of a "happy home" become a distant dream in a world where family breakdown and toxic relationships are increasingly common?

What you've mentioned about the challenges of building a family—from financial burdens to the importance of understanding and supporting children's dreams, managing stress without impacting kids, the complexities of partner compatibility, respecting boundaries, commitment, handling intimacy issues delicately, making sacrifices, practicing tolerance, forgiveness, preventing escalation to violence, and ultimately, spiritual purification as a life's purpose—all this highlights the depth of your thinking and your comprehensive vision. You're not just seeking a roof over heads; you're looking to build a living entity that breathes with love, cooperation, and spiritual growth.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the painful experiences you endured in your family of origin and within the community you sought support from. These wounds leave their marks and make us question our own ability to build something better. Your feeling that you might have unknowingly caused harm to others is also part of this human pain, reflecting great self-awareness and a desire to be better.

These questions of yours aren't just fleeting thoughts; they're a soul's cry searching for a path through life's labyrinth, seeking someone who shares this depth of thought and vision for a better future, a better family, and a better community. Your desire to "put your thoughts out into the universe," hoping that "some door opens to teach and guide you about things you don't know," is a sincere call for goodness and light, and it's a step toward healing and building in itself.

The Quran beautifully describes the sacred relationship between spouses as a source of tranquility and peace, emphasizing that affection (mawaddah) and mercy (rahma) are its foundation, despite all the challenges that may arise. The family unit is indeed the cornerstone of society.

In Surah Ar-Rum, Allah says:

﴿وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُم مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُم مَّوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ﴾ (Verse 21)

This verse describes marriage as a "sakan" (dwelling/tranquility), a source of rest and peace for the soul, and that Allah has placed affection (mawaddah) and mercy (rahma) between spouses. These two qualities form the foundation upon which a righteous home can be built, and they are what can help overcome all the challenges you mentioned, from tolerance and understanding to dealing with mistakes.

And in Surah At-Tahrim, Allah Almighty emphasizes the importance of preserving the family:

This verse highlights the individual's responsibility not only for themselves but also for their family, which includes providing a righteous environment and proper guidance that can protect them from deviation and foster the building of a cohesive and spiritually strong family.

Your message is an invitation to deep reflection on the essence of family and our role within it. Seeking someone who shares your profound thoughts is a search for a true building partner, and that in itself is a great hope. Perhaps these thoughts will open doors you never expected.
