Couples therapy can tackle the full range of relationship issues, from minor disagreements to major problems in communication. It’s never too late to seek help from a qualified therapist. Even if you feel your relationship is too broken for repair, you’d be surprised how much therapy can help.

Some of the most common relationship issues couples therapy can help with include:

· Poor communication

· Navigating a non-traditional relationship

· Problems with intimacy

· Emotional distance

· Physical distance

· Premarital counseling

· Ending a relationship

· Lack of trust

· Blending families

While these are some of the most common reasons to seek help from couples counseling, this is by no means a comprehensive list.

How therapy can strengthen your relationship

Different communication styles, different approaches to problem-solving, and different attachment styles can cause stress and conflict in any relationship. Work-related stress, financial issues, and general disconnect can add even more stress to your relationship.

Therapy isn’t about placing blame. Couples counseling provides the tools you need to have a healthy, fulfilling relationship. Whether you’ve grown apart, have trust issues, or someone has been unfaithful, couples counseling can give you the insight and tools to navigate relationship challenges and strengthen your bond with your partner.

Repairing relationships

If your relationship feels broken, there is hope. When you attend couples therapy, a counselor can help you understand yourself and your partner and the intricate dynamics of your relationship.

Attending couples therapy can help you and your partner become more skilled at resolving disagreements, communicating effectively, cooperating with one another, and solving everyday challenges so that you experience a more fulfilling relationship.

@calmDew1576

I think doing it together can lead to not speaking truth..... for example: my partner would just agree to whatever to get it over but not change the problems.....for someone who knows he will not participate period ....i doubt it is worth the time.......

separate sessions might help but then again just opens to more and more sessions $$$$$ because unless the therapist know the whole story they can be going back and forth saying well this came up in talking to them etc.....

@toughTiger6481 Hello and thank you for your reply! Well it is true that exposing and sharing feelings can be hard and may affect the results, but an experienced theapist will know how to help the couple feel comfortable and open up. They will also suggest one on one sessions if necessary. It's always challenging at first but you'll find the therapist that's the right fit for you! There is always hope

@calmDew1576

I think that is a much bigger obstacle then one can imagine ........

some have tried several therapists and did not find the "right" fit

MOST do not have endless money or insurance coverage to find the "right " fit so many do not try ... IMO
