Cheating

I’ve been in a relationship for seven years. Recently, I discovered that my partner met a girl during a work trip, and then went back to see her about a month later. He hid things from me and lied about some details.

He says he regrets what he did and wants to rebuild our relationship, and I still love him. But since finding out, I’ve become obsessed with checking things, looking for clues and trying to understand exactly what happened.

I feel exhausted. I don’t know if I’m trying to find the truth or just hurting myself more. I’m scared I’ll never be able to trust him again.

All you are feeling is what happens we question everything we want truth and on the lookout for any possible issue ... The problem is when we are on constant vigil, we cannot grow trust back  It often leads to more issues of every "clue" washes away any progress that is made.

In my relationship when something similar happened it was not until we had a very uncomfortable and deeply honest conversation about how it happened. Our relationship was on auto pilot and people think it is "ok" until the crash.   It is not about blame or excuses it is about how in a moment someone can make a bad choice they regret but still leaves a scar on the relationship.
