Christmas was ruined again

I think I just ruined my family Christmas. Sorry to vent on a holiday.

My mom brought her bf to our family party which is fine. Everything was going fine until somehow political and other sensitive info was brought up. I tried shutting down the conversation twice but he wouldn’t stop talking. He has autism bad so when he starts ranting about something he won’t stop. It was making everyone uncomfortable and my mom couldn’t get him to stop. I slammed my foot on our coffee table and it trigger him into yelling. My mom finally had to drag him out of the house to leave.

I know I was out of line but who brings up those topics at Christmas and at someone else’s family party. Later I texted my mom stating that he wasn’t allowed over ever again and she was defending him. She started apologizing for him and I told her if he can’t apologize himself don’t contact me. At this point I just want to cut my mom out of my life and her bf. Even though she didn’t cause the issue but I’m done putting up with disrespect from the guys in her life and her picking them over her own family.

@Country3262

I just can't imagine how unsafe, disrespected, confused and maybe even angry you may feel about this incident. But I believe you were doing just right to protect yourself, your family and your home from a person who apparently was unable to stick to some very basic rules.

I think it is OK to invite to a family meeting someone from outside, like to introduce him or her, but I believe the person should behave and not overuse someone's else hospitality. And it looks this guy had really made a terribly bad entrance.

You know, people can be together from various reasons (including fear of loneliness), and they can sometimes regret or be ashamed of bringing someone to their family environment (sadly, I've experienced it a little by myself). Considering the circumstances, saying clear and definite "no" by you I think was the best thing that could have been done 👍
