Codependency issues

Wasn't sure where I should put this, figured here would probably be the best despite this not being about a romantic relationship. Me and my sister, a year in age apart, have always been fairly close but around when I was eleven we began to get extremely attached and codependent towards each other due to some issues happening at home following a move. We were both raised in a cult and were the only people we had for support growing up and still now. As of now I'm eighteen and she's seventeen. Several issues have come from this and while I don't particularly mind I'm wondering if this is something I should do something about. She's extremely physically clingy, unable to sleep without me, and seems to almost get possessive or jealous. In the past she's broken down sobbing begging me to not go off and abandon her when I've been asked out, and has outright told people I'm not interested in dating them when I never said that. I for one get extremely paranoid, numb, and anxious without her and have a very difficult time having any kind of connection with others

@Machuwy Hi there, Machuwy! thank you very much for sharing this with the community <3

I hear you. having been raised in a cult where you have nobody else for support but your sibling is completely understandable. and i also understand how the situation you've been in has caused both you and your sister to be codependent. i know how it can negatively affect the both of you, considering it sounds like it is difficult for the two of you to be apart, and that this codependency is resorting your sister especially in saying things that can be hurtful to you in the long run. dealing with codependency is possible, but it takes a lot of effort as well as time to do so.
