Communication
What are some of yalls most important factors in keeping healthycommunication with you're partner ?
@devonparks200
Like what helps communicating in a healthy and effective manner?
For me, I can get overwhelmed at times so I tend to take my time in processing my feelings better- a lot of times people tend to talk (read- argue) impulsively when they are feeling a lot of emotions at once, which is quite human of them, however what I find a better approach here is to take time off to calm a little- communication during heated moments isn’t always helpful, instead even politely and calmly telling your person that you’re feeling xyz emotions and need a little time to get back to talking things out can be more effective instead of saying something you don’t even fully mean or the worse-r option- the silent treatment/ lowkey ghosting!
Goes for both people though, to take time off during any heated moments or any topics that may be a little too sensitive or emotionally triggering for either- to talk when feeling slightly more calm and aware of your thoughts and emotions!
Something else that helps is to remember to understand and comprehend and then respond thoughtfully, just replying to get back at someone isn’t communication enough!
It can be difficult in long distance relationships but in-person conversations specially for the more important things, where you’d actually want to know/see/ read the body language of your partner to make a better sense of how they feel and respond can always be helpful. Somehow texting or even calls for that matter can at times fail at this “complete-communication”, I think!
What do you think? And any tips of your own? :)
