Considering calling adult protective services for my parents

They are in their 60s and destroyed their business but refuse to look for work or file for social security or disability. It’s been well over a year of them not taking action. Does anyone have any experience with APS? They are selling things, have addictions, and are depending on me and my siblings for financial support and food. I really need someone or something to step in.

The last time (and millionth) time I was trying to guide my mom and tell her that finding a job is a great solution to her suffering, she grabbed her chest and acted like she was going to faint. This is what I’m dealing with. I contacted the office for aging in her area and am waiting for them to get back to me but I genuinely don’t have a solution for this

I have created her resume template, showed her how to access and edit it, it’s a shared doc between her and I so I’m there to help if she needs it, I also collected all the information we need for her to file for social security retirement and offered to file for her once she gives the ok. She refuses everything. If she were to be evaluated she would definitely be considered to be legally in her right mind, I don’t know what’s wrong with her and I don’t know how to help anymore. All I can do is refuse to give her money, deal with her throwing herself on the floor or even self harm threats, call the cops if needed, keep telling her to get a job, and dealing with the fallout? What on earth do I do
