Controlling

I find myself getting angry or finding things to get angry at my partner for when he wants to go out with friends.. I tell him who he can’t hangout with, I don’t know why I’m so controlling or why I care so much that he wants to hangout with his friends. I’m ruining this relationship and I try to get better but then something happens and then I get so angry. I want to fix this, fix me… I don’t know how and I don’t want to ruin this relationship

@aryonamariee

i can really relate to this. i used to get upset when my bf didn’t meet my expectations. since we’re in a long-distance relationship, i'd need every detail if he was going on a trip; where, with who, how long, etc.

when he got a new job and became really busy, i started feeling neglected and would often get angry. he pulled away, and tht hurt even more. thts when I realized I was dealing with separation anxiety, and it was triggering panic attacks :(

it took me time to understand that i needed to focus on myself and find emotional freedom, from the need to control. what helped was studying new things, learning hobbies, spending time with friends, and expressing myself in ways that felt right. anything that kept my mind off trying to control him and instead focused on my own growth really made a difference. i hope you find that freedom too ♡
