Decided to draw a line in my relationship and I feel bad for it. TW: RELATIONSHIP EMOTINAL ABUSE AND OTHER THINGS

It's been a pretty interesting 9-10 months with my current Fiancé. we didn't start out good. He had a lot of mental health issues that would affect both of us and it would get to me pretty deep at times. I feel bad for having to make this line in the first place but I am at a loss of what else to do.

In short, he would ditch me for his friends to begin with and would ignore me in front of them and other things. That has been worked on recently. But when he is with his friends he is a different person. More happy, attentive, listening to them, and talkative. He hasn't really been that way with me since day one even on good days. It's not all bad just he isn't afraid to be 100% himself around me and his true self struggles with mental health deeply. He struggles with depression and really bad anxiety.

Some of the things he has done to me are, he would barely talk, listen, or Communicate with me (which are the main reasons for this line being drawn as I have mostly moved on from other things or he has changed with the other things I have mentioned), He threw a thanksgiving party and I struggle with PTSD and social anxiety and voiced this to him and he didn't listen to this and kind of just shoved me in the middle of the party and he didn't even really sit next to me or hang out or to talk to me. It left me in this really bad dissaoctied state and it really got to me. He wasn't really considerate of my needs in the beginning of the relationship. I later had a miscarriage and he wasn't really there for me either. Not once asked me how I was during it. That was also a thing, never asking me how my day has been or how I am just not caring or showing he cared about me.

So I drew this line, If he doesn't get better with the active listening skills, and commucation skills and the same respect and attentiveness his gives his friends the curtsey of (I know for a fact he would never do this to his friends) then I would like him to stop playing DND with them on Thursdays until those skills were better towards me and he showed the same respect he gives his friends to me because after all I been through.. I think at this point it's point blank rude and unfair that he falls asleep when I talk to him, or he doesn't listen so he only hears half of the sentence and I kind of left repeating myself over and over again. It took 9 months for him to start to change these things because after I layed it all out for him he finally realized that it's bad. It's real bad and he didn't mean to do these things. I can be understanding we are both young adults and this is his first relationship long term but at this point but it's kind of getting real bad to me and he needs to take some accountability for his actions.

I feel really bad even mentioning this or asking this of him because im afraid it's gonna lead to resentment later in the relationship and I feel like I am recently walking on eggshells with him because how extremely emotionally reactive he can be.

I could use some kind words and some encouragement at the moment because i feel anxiety building up in me after drawing this line.

@CuddleWuddler2000

Please do not feel bad for standing up for yourself and what you want or need.   If this situation continued it would if it has not already built up resentment in YOU... so yes your speaking up or asking him to meet a boundary may at times upset or tick him off but we cannot always make it easy for people to walk all over us.

Does he really understand how disrespected you felt.... how invisible .... trying to repair and telling us "they did not know " only works for so long.

I hope your talk results in some change but in the end sometimes it makes it worse as the attention and  consideration we wanted feels scripted not genuine.  it is a good start you have made but the road gets real rocky before it becomes smoother.
