Disabled adult having hard time finding social groups Mom turns down options I like
I'm kind of upset I was looking forward to being busy at least three times a week. Mom looked at my email from Mariam from PH (Participation House) and just for one day a week it's about $120 for three months or $1440 in total
Mum kind of half-turned down, or is "keeping in reserve" -the Pickwick program which she didn't like because she "thinks I wouldn't fit in" and also she doesn't like the fact it's privately run. She said we don't know what it does but I told her back in Dec what it does- it goes to Toronto Zoo, or a Reptilia House. Also its "difficult to get too" It's behind the stupid mall somewhere. It would cost in total about $289.39 $90 for every day and even have to pay for the days I can't go. Plus $128.39 for Toronto Zoo + about $80 for Reptilia Zoo membership
New Winds, the sister program to my old day program New Leaf in its current location in town, it's like being at a family reunion its was elbow-to-elbow in a basement and when I was there in Jan 2024 or 2025, I was near the door and it was freezing there despite no snow or ice on the sidewalks.
Mom suggested going back to the accessible gym. But I hate exercising alone and I don't socialize at the gym because at the time I went to the gym (from about 2014-2018) my parents made me walk both and forth 32 min walk both ways (on Tuesdays and Fridays) and longer on Weds from the church. The only people I saw at the gym were seniors-like a woman from my now former bowling league or mums with children. Not people around my age (36+). Let's not even getting into the locker scenario- the shoe cubbies are for 4-5 years old not for 18+ Or the lockers in general in the woman's room for that matter. It's only enough for people whom drive or are driven to the gym not for people outside the box. Also i don't want to walk to the gym because both streets I could walk to get to the gym, have "arms" on the sidewalk so arms on sidewalk+snow/ice/snow=dangerous. I also don't want to have another scene even w/ Mom at home of Dad bullying me on the scale if I choose not to go because it's suppose to snow. Even if I did get the bus to get to the gym, I still would need to have the boots+snowpants+backpack+headband+scarf+streetclothes into the small lockers
Mom looked at the gym's programs and it was for either elementary school children 7+ (so basically my friend Carly's oldest daughter) or for High school students. Mum even emailed the gym to ask if they have any programs for adults that can do fitness/socialize.
I want to do something outside of church stuff (my volunteer job on Wed during the school year and my future volunteer job of the autism respite stuff, not counting the ) and everything I want to do is "too expensive" (PH) for me to do more then once a week or "I wouldn't fit in" the Pickwick program.
She wants me to have a life but she wouldn't allow me to have a life I want. Especially with me going to work once a week (Wed) after Labour day and going to D&D nights on Thursdays.
I want to be busy on like Mondays or something, Just to do something else beside be stuck at home with my parents which I been stuck with since March 13 of 2020. My only breaks from Dad are 1. DSC and that for me only happened 2 years now (Even if I did do two camps this year). 2. Mom and I in Toronto, and 3.Mom and I are in Bard's town, Ontario.

@Disneywoman
I'm sorry you both couldn't find and decide on something suitable for you 💛

@Amanda84 I feel like I'm in a mirror situation of a situation I was in back 17 years ago. Before New Leaf, before I had the volunteer job (both 2013), or before I was even at bowling league (Fall of 2009?) which shut down. There are three differences between the 2009 and now:
1.Both parents are retired -they were both working in 2009
2. I still have the Wed volunteer job but that's only for an hour at the most, longer after holidays. I restarted this job in August 2022 but mostly I only go during the school year
3. I will be joining a D&D group in Sept
I just need something to do in person on some other day like Monday or Thursdays. New Leaf isn't option because 1. it's online and I don't have a web camera and 2.there's no in person location
I guess it's impossible for programs to meet my requirements:
1. Affordable/not needing to be locked in for 3 months
2. I can choose to miss days
3. Not crowded have breathing space
4."Field Trips' into Toronto (I would like the option to go more further afield like Ottawa, but at least Toronto is a good) ie Museum or Zoo
5. Outings (different to field trips) to Bowling Never Ends or Mall around Christmas time
6. prefer not having to have packed lunches, and if outings ie at mall, or at field trips (only zoo/Museum) we can buy lunch there. Or the rest of time its made at "home base". by participants but I can do packed lunches
