Feeling alone in marriage

I’ve always imagined that my husband would be my go to person, my best friend but since I’ve been married (3 years ago) I’ve realized this isn’t the case. I’ve started to feel super alone in my marriage, I don’t have someone who puts me first, it’s always about them. Instead of a partner, I’m feeling more like a maid. Somehow my feelings are almost never understood so I’m coming to a point where it’s useless to even express myself. My day is just inner dialogue with myself or talking to my toddler.

It’s been tough for me to keep in touch with my friends since I had my baby and also because we moved into a further city. I have my mom and sister whom I talk to daily but I can’t share everything with them as I don’t want them to worry.

I am just feeling super alone.

@mimi07

one of the toughest things in caring for kids and especially toddlers is we want to have grown up talk with (an adult) someone ..... after a day that was trying we would like to discuss your frustrations or whatever...

When he walks in after work  he has been doing whatever his job is and  perhaps dealing with people perhaps all day and maybe  wants to think you have house/ child taken care of .......so he does not even have to think about it let alone talk about it..... it becomes a stalemate.....  It also becomes a problem.

When we feel alone in our marriage.... IF we seek friends outside it can help  but also depending on the closeness we build friends can start being a wedge .... if you share frustration and they start with do this or that advice that may NOT be right for your situation

It is frustrating and (dealing with it sooner then later IMO is best) i let my feeling like maid / cook/ main childcare build and even when kids got older and not needing so much when I developed friends / went to work i had people interested in listening to my opinion and such and I am at a place of either questioning the idea of him ever having been my best friend and the rift of feeling alone for a long time has not healed.
