Feeling distant from my parents — is this normal?

I like spending time with my parents, but because of their work and our house construction, I rarely get the chance. We’ve moved houses many times and it’s been exhausting. My mom gets sick sometimes, my dad is always busy, and I don’t really have friends to talk to.

I can’t even remember the last time my mom hugged me or held me close. I feel like I’m not loved, and even now I don’t feel like I’m receiving love. And if there is love, I don’t know how to accept it — it feels unfamiliar and confusing.

Has anyone else felt this way before?

It can be difficult when parents are expressive.

It doesn't mean, they don't love you.

They just don't show it in that way.

But your feelings matter 💜 💕

It sounds like a stressful situation in living in different places if your house is being worked on and their work. I am sure they love you even if they forget to show it like they have in past.

Have you hugged your mom?  Showed them you are supportive of them in this stressful time?   maybe a quick call text if they are at working or such. sometimes a subtle effort reminded them that you may feel distant and semi- forgotten.

it sucks when we cannot have time like we used to because someone's schedule or other things.  There are times in life when someone we love seems to not have much time it is normal.
