Getting the love of my life back

Hi,

I was dating a guy for 4 years, then we broke up two years ago. We were always in touch on and off, but never really got over each other. Last month he asked me for marriage and I said no. I live abroad and soon after this proposal I visited my country without telling him even when he pleaded me to visit him once.

After visiting, I asked him for a short notice plan to which he denied and then a week later I find out that he is with some other girl, my heart shattered. I was overwhelmed when he asked me for marriage but I was really considering it and discussing it with my family, now I don’t know how to live without him. He has been a constant in my life for the last 6 years. I even visited his city this time to have a conversation about this, he was really adamant. He even cried in front of me but said that now its really over.

All my friends tell me that was really incapable to love anyone else, he was always all about you. I want him back, if there is really anyway I can make him come back to me? Please help. Everything I am doing is pushing him further away, I know its not that late yet. I just want him to realise this sooner than later.

@anonyPrune9696 Hi! Nice to meet you. I'm Mel, I'm a listener here in 7Cups <3

Thank you so much for trusting us with your story. It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time, and it’s completely understandable to feel heartbroken and overwhelmed given the situation. The pain of seeing someone you deeply care about move on, especially after such a long and significant part of your life, is incredibly challenging.

It’s clear that your feelings for him are very strong and that you’ve invested a lot emotionally in this relationship. It’s also really hard when you’re dealing with mixed signals and the heartbreak of a potential future that now feels out of reach. It’s completely valid to feel conflicted and to struggle with moving on after such a significant and long-lasting connection.

How do you feel about your future and what you want moving forward? Are there specific things you’ve found to be helpful or comforting as you navigate these feelings?
