Grief in divorce

Hello all,

I am currently battling with grief from my divorce.

my divorce was finalized in May, but I had been living apart from my ex husband for a while. It was a very traumatic and drawn out process. In the moment I was drowning, paying for everything, tackling a newborn and a puppy all by myself while the person I made vows to had time for everyone else but me. He cheated on me and continued to while lying over and over. I was gaslighted and constantly felt like I was going crazy. I felt alone and completely abandoned. I know that in that moment I made the best decision for me. I lived in *** but the worst part is here I am, divorce is final and I’m consumed mentally. I have flashbacks of good and bad and I don’t know what to do. I know he wasn’t perfect and neither was I.

I hate that my family is broken and that my child is stuck in the balance.

it is hard to let go of what we thought or wanted it to be.  you are mourning the ideas and plans you saw in the future.  we never plan on a divorce but it happens and out the window goes the pictures of future you had.

i think it is common i went through this not with my own but with my child's marriage ... i was close to my now ex in law and now all the plans the future we  ( both families) all envisioned with them is gone it seemed so real but in a poof was gone.
