Hard breakup, need to talk
Hi,
My name is Maria, I’m 19. I’m reaching out because I’m really struggling emotionally due to a recent breakup that’s affected me deeply. It wasn’t just a breakup, it felt like I lost a person I had built a whole emotional world with. Since then, I’ve been going through a lot of pain, anxiety, and emotional instability.
I’ve done a lot of reflection, and I’ve written a message that I intend to send him, not to get back together necessarily (though ofc I’d love to), but to seek clarity and potentially find closure or understanding. I’ve been planning to send this message for a while now, and the anticipation has been emotionally draining. I’m stuck in between hope and fear: hope that we might be able to talk things through and fear that he may not respond or may refuse.
I’ve been trying to hold myself together through school and studies, but the emotional weight is very heavy, and it’s starting to affect my energy, focus, and mental health. I sometimes feel like I’m spiraling: sad, hopeless, and unsure of what I want or how to move forward, yet I still care deeply and just wish for some peace.
I also talked to a therapist who was also a spiritual astrologist, and I found that helpful, but it’s financially out of reach for me at the moment. I’m looking for someone who could help me work through these feelings, the grief, the confusion, the emotional burnout.
I don’t expect magic solution, just want to feel less alone in this, and maybe find some clarity and strength to move forward.
Thank you for reading.

Hi Maria,
Thank you so much for opening up and sharing what you're going through. First of all, I want you to know that you're not alone in this, even if it feels incredibly isolating right now. What you're feeling is real, valid, and deeply human.
When we lose someone we’ve built an emotional world with, it’s not just about the breakup it’s a kind of grief. You’re mourning not just the person, but the version of your future you imagined with them, the comfort you found in their presence, and the connection that felt like home. That kind of loss is huge, especially when you're still trying to navigate school, your own identity, and the uncertainty of life at 19.
The fact that you’ve been able to reflect, write your feelings out, and even seek help shows how strong and self-aware you really are even when it doesn’t feel like it. That tension between hope and fear you mentioned? That’s so deeply relatable. It’s okay to want clarity. It’s okay to want to reach out. And it’s okay to be afraid of the outcome. That mix of emotions is part of being human and loving deeply.
What you’re going through isn't weakness it’s the weight of caring. It takes time to untangle from someone who meant so much to you, especially when you still care. Give yourself permission to feel everything: the sadness, the hope, the confusion. Let it move through you. You don’t have to rush to “get over it.” You just need to move through it in your own time.
If that message feels right to send, trust your timing but also know that your healing doesn’t depend solely on his reply. Whether he answers or not, your peace is still possible. You are worthy of love, of clarity, and of a life that feels full again even if it looks different from what you imagined.
Please keep reaching out, journaling, breathing, and finding small moments of comfort in your day. You will get through this, even if right now all you can do is take the next breath. And if you ever need someone to talk to again, I’m here.
You’re doing better than you think.
With warmth and care,
You're not alone in this.
