I understand that you love this man very much. And this relationship means a lot to you. I also understand that you regret the lies and mistakes you have made and are desperate for another chance.
What does your partner want? You suggested that you have put him in the position of the father you never had. I made this mistake. I wanted a partner who could give me all the things I hadn't had as a child. My partner wanted similar. We were both adults, fighting to be the child. I had to learn to give the child in me what it needed myself, so that I could relate to my partner as an adult. Maybe you too could address your inner child and resolve the issues from your past, so you put less pressure on your partner?
Relationships are normally about give and take. It seems your partner felt like he was doing all the giving and expected something in return. Do you think that is a fair assessment?
Moving on from challenging parental relationships is not easy. But if you want a relationship in the present, you may have to look at moving on from the past.
Best wishes.
