His audacity, my spinelessness
He cheated on me while drunk, I found out, he said let's end it because the relationship is now too broken to fix, and I'm begging him to let us work on it :(
You'd think I cheated lol
@reliableSouth7996
Why do you want to work on it?
Do not get me wrong I think relationships can get past cheating, but the key IMO is to know why ... people will think on crossing a line when they think relationship is over or past repair. In that case we need to really share with each other to see if something can be repaired. it will be different i was in your shoes. looking back i sometimes think maybe it would have been better if we parted.
Well I want to repair it because it's a 5 year relationship that I've sacrificed a lot for and throwing it away over one mistake feels wrong. And also I believe I might have major abandonment issues, just the thought of being alone puts me in a dark place.
@reliableSouth7996
why I asked question was not for an answer but to have you think about the why.
If you have any issues i feel this is time you can repair relationship but also working on yourself.
When we are strong in ourselves we can let things go and not hold on because we do not want to be lonely or end something after x amount of time. I agree a one mistake thing is not a reason to throw things away. I would think reasons to stay should be about how you feel about him more then fear of change or being alone.
I will also say so many people list time spent in a relationship as a reason..... 5 yrs/ 10 yrs etc if this was a financial investment and was not growing but losing would people end that?
Or if in a job that was great to begin with .... but changes made it miserable. Do they stay because they have put in X amount of years?
I know your gut instinct is to fix things, but if you're truly honest with yourself, do you want to continue a relationship with this person?
