How do you know...

Recently amicably divorced, now involved with a wonderful man I've known for 20+years, who is in the middle of his own nasty divorce. His started way beefier mine, but it's so twisted up in court stuff it is c yet to be final. We keep things very private, low key, for the sake of his divorce and his daughter. He's a good, good man going thru a terrible time. Having been friends for so long, to find that we were both newly single at the same time... well, it was almost like a storybook romance. He checked every box and is everything my former spouse is not... and vice versa. Fast forward a little bit to where we are now. Our time is limited bc we are both busy with jobs and kids, but his divorce has hasten some ugly turns at the hands of his soon to be ex. She's trying to ruin him financially, emotionally, spiritually, physically.... just because she thinks she can. It's breaking him down & tearing him apart. I care about him very, very much and I know he returns those feelings. We want to see how this all plays out to see if we have what it takes in the end. But....

How do you know if you're supposed to stick it out??? I know God put us together, and I feel like God brought us to this place to grow us.... but I get so discouraged when he pulls until his shell. His anxiety and depression have surfaced and sometimes he shuts down. We talk about it a lot. He doesn't like the person he's becoming, he wants to fix it but can't.

I pray for him nonstop, I pray for Guidance and direction... Should I stay and fight along with him? Should I save myself the heartache that comes with his hurting?

It seems like every time I pray for God to speak to me and show me what to do, I turn on the TV or radio, open social media, get on YouTube, or open my Bible... there's sermons and scriptures about standing firm and having faith. Not giving up because God is fighting our battles. The bigger the battle the better the fruit. On and on and on... is God answering me?? Or is it coincidence?

It can be you want it to be a sign or message ..... i too in certain times asked for an answer but when that came i knew what it was ... it was not a coincidence or even makes sense ... it was clearly a reason.

perhaps you want that to be your answer and scared it might not be .... take a step back and quit searching for a sign and let things take their course.

is ex so mad because she knows he has you already ... no one wants to hold on like that unless they are not ready to let go.

To our knowledge, she's unaware that we're even together. There's really no good reason for the way she's treating him, other than to save face, and to make him look bad to the kid and everyone else. She left him, cheated on him. He's an amazing dad, their child adores him, wants to live with him. The ex uses the kid as a pawn to get money out of him, to manipulate him. All she cares about is money and status and how things look in the outside... I think if he were rich and offered her big bucks, she'd walk away and never look back.

@exuberantHouse8681

it does not make her look good to people who know them ...

generally people have an idea of the level of finance and seeing and kids grow up and many find out the truth no matter what the lies were.

look for the real motivation IMO not about how it looks to others but to hurt him as she blames him for the marriage issues .
