How do you reconnect respectfully after space is asked for?
Hey everyone,
I’m in a tough spot right now. Someone I care about told me she needs space and doesn’t want contact for now. She said I should talk to a therapist and figure out what’s best for me, and that she doesn’t want to block me, but the only way I could reach her is by sending a friend request.
This all started after Homecoming. When I asked her to go, I thought we were a “we,” but things didn’t go how I expected. She’s said our relationship has become unhealthy and emotionally draining, and that she needs distance to protect herself.
I want to respect her space, but I also feel stuck because there’s no way to talk to her otherwise. How do you approach someone in this kind of situation without pushing too much, while still being honest about how you feel?
Any advice would really help 💙

Perhaps you need to take a step back and see the whole situation big picture,
She probably did NOT think like you did... they you were a "we" at time of homecoming. When one person has it in their mind there is a bigger connection. They may think things should move in a certain direction towards a relationship..... If the other is not ready or does not feel the same it creates a very uncomfortable situation.
They may not want to hurt you or lose you as a friend etc. Sadly people instead of being clear and telling you they block you or avoid it. This is not very mature on their part they should be upfront and not avoid the conversation
