How to handle my boyfriend’s depression?
Last night my boyfriend got horrible news. He owns a small business with two of his friends that is struggling a lot right now, and his friends are tired and want to file for bankruptcy. The problem is, those friends have families and other ways to be supported, while my boyfriend has been on his own since he was 14 (abusive family). He’s falling into a deep depression and I have absolutely no idea what to do. I can’t be there for him 24/7 (I go to school 45 minutes away from him and am currently in my hometown 3 hours away for spring break). He asked me to move in with him to help with finances but my parents help me with rent and aren’t on board with that and that’s also causing him to spiral a little bit. I literally feel sick to my stomach right now because I’ve been crying all day. I’m at a loss for how to help him and I’m afraid if he slips deeper into depression he won’t do things he needs to do like look for a new apartment, job, etc.

You're feeling overwhelmed by your boyfriend's struggles with his business and mental health, especially given your limitations in helping. It's important to prioritize self-care for both of you. Encourage him to seek professional help for his depression and support him emotionally. Offer practical assistance where you can, but also set boundaries to protect your well-being. Together, take things one step at a time, and remember it's okay to ask for help when needed.
