I hate being single on Valentines Day.
This will be my 28th Valentine's Day alone and I am 28 and I personally don't enjoy this day and I know it's an extremely overrated but I honestly want this day to be like any other day. This for me is honestly easier said than done.
I usually would stay at home and do my work, eat ice cream and cry while watching movies.
For this year I've deleted all my social medias, I am trying to distant from all my friends who are in relationships.
I wish I didn't waste my time getting my bachelors and masters in computer science.

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear that Valentine's Day is tough for you. Remember that your feelings are valid, and it's okay to take care of yourself. Don't regret your accomplishments - your degrees are amazing! Sending you luck and positive vibes.

Hello. I thought Valentine's Days do not count before your 18th, or at least 14th birthday? 😊
For me it is going to be the second one alone in a row. Just an ordinary day. Well, it happens 😊
From my 30 years experience in relationships I think it is much much better than being with someone who ruins our life be rapidly switching moods, cheating, behaving in an aggressive way or indifferent. Of course, there are also some good memories from the past...
In my country many people ignore celebrating Valentine's Days, being overly advertised, while all those happy everyday moments are often criminally underrated. All those cinemas, flower shops, cafés full of teenagers in love, ehhh 😉
Your agenda to not "join the lemmings" 😉 and spend a decent evening at home sounds sweet to me. I like ice cream and crying at romcoms, too 😊 And I also last year again put my dating sites to a place they really deserve - a trash.
I believe there are different times in our lives: sometimes we just live through it, and sometimes we mentally prepare for the things to come. For example, studying might be difficult when you are head over heels in love, and that is very good to have a good profession if you plan to start a family with someone on some hopefully very lucky day 👍
So, you are in computer science? Does it involve AI? Do you think that movies like "Her", "Ex Machina", "Archive" or "2050" could be a good choice for Valentine's Day evening? 😊

It is just another day to many in a couple as well... it is all about fake buy something to show them bigger and better ... cards/ flowers etc. advertisers do not change my mood about any day.... I do not need to recognize every made up gimmick like made up days like pizza day or chocolate day etc.
who is anyone trying to impress? NOT imo their partner as a gift one day of year maybe a dinner/ flowers etc does not make up for everyday treatment and appreciation.
I would rather be alone then in a relationship like I was for years...... with flowers that die and candy I hated but he liked so as with most things were assume his favorites were mine also. 28 is still young and you can meet someone but my advice is do not worry too much about it.
