My boyfriend of 4 years who I love so much is so emotionally abusive. I am trapped. I want to leave but I love him so much and I don’t want him to suffer when I leave. It’s just a mess.

Staying in an abusive relationship and taking abuse in my opinion is just hurting yourself.
one day you may decide it is no longer worth it and you will remember you held on to this situation and blame yourself. If he is not emotional, do you really think he will suffer? if he cannot share emotions now.
I know when we love someone we wish / hope / and think they will change. It is about a person knowing when to walk away.
